A naked loli in a box, a silence bringing box and something "Creative"

Received a few packages yesterday. One of them contained… a box.

With a loli in it! Awwwwwwwwwwww!

The loli is Noumi Kudryavka known from Key’s eroge Little Busters! Ecstasy.

This cute little figure is an extra that comes with the March issue of Dengeki G’s Magazine.

Still available from Hobby Search for 943 Yen: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10104570 (Now with SAL shipping.)

Many thanks to comrade Guy who found her while browsing some online shops earlier this year.

More about how he fell in love with Kud over here: http://geekorner.wordpress.com/2010/01/02/loli-puppy-in-a-box/

At the bottom of Kuds box you will find the logo of Key’s upcoming eroge called Kud Wafter (クドわふたー). This spinoff of Little Busters! focuses on Kud and should be released this summer.

More info over @ Wikipedia or the official website. Teaser below:

Now on to some tech-stuff again:

Not long ago I assembled my ION powered HTPC. Every thing seemed fine back then. Unfortunately my hearing is pretty well and Western Digitals Caviar Green isn’t as silent as it is advertised. The LianLi case has rubberized HDD mounting screws but unfortunately they riveted the mounting frame to the cases bottom. Because of that the hard disks vibrations are directly transferred to the rest of the case. No one else noticed the noise but I just couldn’t live with it.

Ordered the ichbinleise Box HDD 10 from Germany for 25€.  (“Ich bin leise” means “I am silent”)

The best HDD silencing box, the GrowUp Japan SMART DRIVE 2002C seems to be sold out everywhere. (Would cost over 90€ anyway.)

The ichbinleise box, which needs to be assembled in a few easy steps, contains of:

- 2x aluminium side panels and 2 x inter panels 3mm thick (There are versions for two or three hard drives available.)

- 2x sound damping panels

- 1x self-adhesive decoupling pad

- 4x knurled-head screws

Assembly complete. It’s a hardrive sandwich! With the hard drive inside the box is really heavy.

Fits perfectly into my ITX case as you can see above. HTPC Revision 1.2 ready to go – (Guess I need to come up with a name for it, any ideas?)

It is indeed working well and the hard rive is quite silent. The temperatures are little bit higher but 37°C isn’t a temperature to worry about. (Apple thinks it’s okay that hard drives have constantly around 60°C for example. o_O)

My tip if you are going to build a HTPC too:

Check reviews for the most silent hard drive models, get a 2,5” model as those are usually quieter or (if you have too much money) a SSD.

My main machine got some attention too cause my old and cheap gaming headset decided to die last week. Ordered this as replacement:

Creative FATAL1TY Pro Series Gaming Headset. Unlike some earlier revision the latest one is quite good.

Specifications:

Earphones

  • Driver units: 40mm Neodymium magnet
  • Frequency response: 20Hz-20kHz
  • Impedance: 32ohms
  • Sensitivity (1kHz): 110dB/mW

Microphone

  • Microphone type: noise-cancelling condenser
  • Frequency response: 100Hz-15kHz
  • Impedance: <10kohms
  • Sensitivity (1kHz): -40dBV/Pa
  • Cord length: 8-foot / 2.5m Oxygen-Free Copper cable
  • Input/Output plugs: 1/8" / 3.5mm gold-plated stereo miniplugs
  • Net weight: 7oz. / 200g (without packaging)

Works great combined with my Creative X-Fi soundcard. Way better gameplay for example in Modern Warfare 2 as you don’t miss any sound. Guess they will do a good job in Bad Company 2 too which I preordered for only 28€ from here. (Limited Edition!)

Anyone of my readers playing MW2 by the way? Kinda boring without some buddies as way too much of my comrades decided to play FPSs on consoles! WTF???

My next blog post will probably contain some half naked figure and some thoughts about a certain DX11 graphics card. xD

    Got to say, didn’t look at how my photos of the loli came out, but I’m sure yours are better :)

    Forever tinkering with your rigs, eh? Heh.

    Nice, at least now you’re rid of that hard drive noise, which can be pretty annoying.

    The only noise my Nexus Psile Mini ITX case generates is from the hard drive (since cooling is ensured by a silent Zalman Reserator water cooling set) and those spin up noise and search ticking sounds can get tiring. If SSD’s were cheaper for more space, I’d switch in a heartbeat.

    My brother has too much money and bought a SSD this week. I would rather choose for such a Ichbinleise box but well, he’s opening photoshop in a split second >_>

    Decoupled my HDDs (2 Samsung Spinpoint 640GB, 2 WD Velociraptor 300GB) with Sharkoon HDD Vibefixer rails. Due to so-so reviews I had mixed feelings about those rails, but they seem to work rather well. Temps are about 38 deg.

    Maybe Apples 60 degs. were in Fahrenheit?
    Seems a bit too chilly, though ;)

    However, I finally did order this Fatal1ty headset. My first intention was to buy *real* headphones like the AKG 702 “Mio edition”. Of course, they’re kind of overpowered for gaming. And I’d still be lacking a microphone.

    (SSDs – I don’t know. Pricey and it still feels like being an early adopter)

    Like De-JaY said: When everyone had the Granate-launcher bug in an PC Version, no one could play. In our console we had everything in an stable function. Consoles rules!
    But you like play it on PC. What ever.

    And your loli – iLoL’d

    And srsly: How much did you spend money to that black box? With that money you could bought an TV and an stand for it too!

    @Guy
    Looking forward to your pics. And yah configuring until everything is almost perfect.

    @Smithy
    Which hard drive do you have in there? (brand/model) You could try to set the automatic acoustic management to silent.

    @Gargron
    Ährm.. ok^^

    @Talon
    No need for photoshop on my HTPC but yah SSDs are sweet. A primary SSD and additional 2TB HDDs are for sure the way to go nowadays if you got the moolah.

    @battlecamel
    Yah, have such vibe vixers in my main machine with an additional silent 80mm fan mounted underneath. ^^

    Nope, the hard drives in iMacs get around 60°C. Take a look at the official Apple discussions forum. And they say this is normal!!!

    Yah, great headphones for music would be great but usually they aren’t perfect for gaming. Would like to get the AKG too but they are alittle bit pricey, eh?^^

    @GREW
    But.. but.. but.. you have a freaking gamepad there!

    The HTPC is around 500€ now.
    I don’t know where you get your hardware but usually you can’t get a TV that cheap.
    Let’s say I’d just get an 42″ TV. The cheapest ones start around 480€. (This is nearly the price for the HTPC.) Then I would need a Bluray drive: ~60€.
    Next I would need a second graphics card as both DVI ports are already used on mine. Let’s say a cheap GT240: ~90€
    A wall mounting kit or a stand would cost some moolah too. Let’s say 50€.

    HTPC: ~480-500€
    TV with stuffs: ~680€ with a 10″ smaller TV.. great

    The AKG pricey? Well, then consider this: http://www.musik-schmidt.de/Ultrasone-Edition-8-Palladium-.html

    Worth every penny, I have to admit. But – alas – I do not have THAT much pennies left ;(

    haha, thats the good thing about Dengeki’s magazine: the freebies, and this time its a nice one^^

  11. February 20th, 2010 at 06:08 | #11

    Well that is a surprise! I am usually not into loli but that appeal of this little freebie is certainly there. Your HTPC is looking good!
