It’s all about Windows 7

October 22nd, 2009 hikky Leave a comment Go to comments

As a geek I can’t resist to do a W7 post on the launch day of course. It’s the 22nd since a few hours in all parts of the world, which means thousands of people are getting their shiny new operating system today.

Especially the Japanese Ultimate version is of huge interest for me. Coming with the first official OS-tan Madobe Nanami ( Madobe= by the window, Nana = seven) and event sounds voiced by Mizuki Nana!

Only available for folks in Japan who pre-ordered Windows 7 Ultimate though. The pic above is one of the included wallpapers. The others are below in the picture spam section.

And I found this desktop mascot on /g/ but it’s just a fan made one. Still better than nothing though. http://www.mediafire.com/?mzqvmjxnj0t

Has anyone already found the theme files? If so share them please!

UPDATE: Here is the fixed themepack: http://www.mediafire.com/?yyyngymjmfj

(If the link above is overused try this alternative link MadobeNanami-engfix.themepack )

Works great! Just double click on the file and your Windows 7 is moe-fied.

Prepare some tissues before you apply the theme. (⌒▽⌒)

I’m using and loving Windows 7 since August as you may know. Nanami didn’t approve though.

As Google hasn’t added W7 to its Analytics database yet, it’s time for another OS poll:

Which OS are you using?

Now some Windows 7 picture spam:

Yes, Windows 7 is also great for those preferring 3D…

… or Macs. ^_^

    Hehe I like the mascot of Win7 of Japan.
    Nice blue hair xD

    Well, I hope I have my version soon.
    But somehow I don’t like this grouping of the taskbar.

  3. October 22nd, 2009 at 20:16 | #3

    whoah?! serious?! o_o! a mascot for windows 7 in japan? XD i want one too! though having a male version would be nicer if they made one.. XD

    Nice! I feel like missing out now- she looks really cute, and the top image is just beyond great. Looks like they hired one of the pixiv elite artists? The style seems familiar…
    Anyway, really jealous of the Japanese who pre-ordered!

    Didn’t know about the OS-tan, sure would like to have one those versions :D But I will stick to using Linux (and Vista if I want to play some games, which is almost never) as Windows is just too expensive. Feels weird to not upgrade my rig with a new Windows version for the first time but I guess there’s a first time for everything :) I am, however, jealous of the japanese Windows 7 user a little bit :D

    @XII
    Character design is by Wakaba, at least stated at wikipedia
    The first and the third picture Hikky posted are actually wallpapers, wich come with the Japanese W7 Special edition featuring the W7-tan. So I think those are drawn by him.

    @suicchi
    A OS-tan trap version? lol

    @XII
    Jup, just as Talon said. Oh and this is the third one btw: http://konachan.com/post/show/61677

    @SHyx0rmZ
    Yah, use whatever works for you ;) At least the OEM versions aren’t that expensive.

    @Talon
    Thx for the info.

  9. October 23rd, 2009 at 04:01 | #9

    Just downloaded the themepack. Thanks for sharing!

  10. October 23rd, 2009 at 11:19 | #10

    Do you have a sound-only pack? For the non-Win7 users

  11. October 23rd, 2009 at 11:28 | #11

    @imhgtsukishiro
    Nope, sry. But you can download the file, rename it to zip, unpack it and assign the event sounds manually to those wav files.

    Will the themepack be compatible with other versions too? Like XP or Vista?

  13. October 23rd, 2009 at 22:28 | #13

    out of all the pics you posted only one has me drooling, just how I like my ladies 3-dimensional….

  14. October 24th, 2009 at 11:49 | #14

    Give me a legal copy of Windows 7 Ultimate and I’ll give it a month on my MacBook :)

    Official Moe theme-pack for W7? Sweet.

    I’m still on XP. I’ll be getting W7 as money and availability rise, especially if I can score it for cheap. They’re selling the OEM for cheap around here, but you must choose 32/64 bit, and don’t get both in one pack. My friend will let me borrow the other if I choose, but it’d still require me to at least look if the programs I use are 64-bit compatible, cause if too many aren’t, I might hold my horses some.

  16. October 24th, 2009 at 19:30 | #16

    @tamerchris
    Nope, but you can set up the wallis/sounds manually.

    @Jamaipanese
    Weird… just kidding (^_^)

    @yonasu
    Aren’t you a student? U get Windows 7 for a really low price, usually.

    @Guy
    Go 64bit. I can’t remember having any problems with x64 since the switch in early 2007. (Besides a few small, not important proggys.) Most x86 progs run on x64 without problems.

  17. October 24th, 2009 at 20:34 | #17

    I posted a fixed version of the theme for all users who can not play the WAVs from the original theme in my Blog.

  18. October 24th, 2009 at 21:50 | #18

    Hey, that theme pack is actually quite cute. ^^
    Thanks for sharing it.

    @Flusel
    Oh for old windows versions! Nice!

    @all: The version on my page works for 7 only. Check out the link in Flusel’s comment if you are searching for a Xp and Vista version!

    @Smithy

    What’s with Nanami saying “Goshujin-sama” in the second picture? If she’s referring to you, then you should realise that “Gōshū” means Australia and not Austria. I know because I looked my home country up in Wiktionary.

    Thanks for the themepack, though. I appreciate it.

    Ha ha ha ha. That iMac Windows 7 mash up is great!

    But I think I’ll just stick with Mac OS for now… maybe even boot up my copy of XP to play some Fallout 3 this next weekend…
