HoiHoi –san, first snow and some jailbreaking [Weekly roundup]

Yes, I admit it, I’m a lazy blogger. But to keep my blog somehow alive I decided to post a weekly roundup now and then.

1.) HoiHoi-san is complete and currently hooked up to my PC to charge her for some in-action pictures.

2.) Kagamiku is currently enjoying the snowfall outside. Yes, you heard right. It’s snowing since yesterday afternoon here in Austria but the ground is still warm. That’s why I can’t post some nice white scenery pics.

3.) Geohot released a new jail breaking tool called “blackra1n” a few days ago. This small tool is awesome! Easiest JB process ever and I’m finally on 3.1.2.

  • Just download the program for either Windows or Mac from here.
  • Add the following *.dll file to the directory were blackra1n.exe is located http://www.mediafire.com/?0dzbvzhuxuj
  • Launch blakra1n.exe and click on “Make it Rain”. (Make sure that iTunes 9 and iTuneshelper.exe are closed. Make sure to do a backup of your device before.)
  • Plug in your iPhone/iTouch.
  • your iPhone will reboot and you are done! Mission accomplished iPhone jailbroken.
  • Open the Blackra1n app on the iPhone and install Cydia or Rock. After that you can uninstall the Blackra1n App.

If you are still using an unjailbroken iPhone: There is no excuse now!

4.) TweetDeck 0.31.0 was released a few hours ago. Love the new functions.

Especially those new notification pop ups are nice. (Lol at Phil Schiller btw. Looks like it’s hard to admit that Microsoft did a great job on Windows 7.) Get TweetDeck here for your PC or iPhone.

That’s all for now. I guess that was the most boring post ever posted here.

    Really, why should I jailbreak it?

    Until today I can’t understand it. But nice to know that there is a easy way to do.

    I should try and do at least one post a week too… It’s been way too long since my last post. It’s been pretty uneventful lately though. Looks like you got snow before we did. It’s been cold enough for it a few days. Still want a HoiHoi. Still need Win7.

    iTouch, do you mean iPod touch perhaps? And what does the ‘jailbreaking’? Can I then use my iPhone/Pod without iTunes after it?

    @GREW
    As u jailbreaked it now… how does it feel? xD

    @Persocom
    Yah, its hard to think about posts sometimes.

    @Gargron
    iTouch= short and geeky form to refer to the iPod Touch. ^_^
    Nope u can’t use it without iTunes.
    But you are able to use alot of nice options, 3rd party apps and… cracked Apps.

    Just a few examples:
    Annoyed by the 10MB download limit at the App store on 3G and by mobile sites on Safari? Get the 3G unrestrictor and the UserAgentFaker.
    Wanting to do a short clip but u own an iPhone 3G? Get Cycorder.
    Want to block spam SMS, calls or a certain someone? Get iBLacklist.
    Maybe u turn of Wifi on the go or the GPS, want to turn off Push or view the running task and quite them? Get Sbsettings.
    U want a custom styled iPhone? Without that weird Carrier logo up there maybe? Winterboard or Bosspaper is there for u!

    I could go on and on forever with that list…

    It does look pretty nice but I still prefer the 1 column timeline in Tweetie. The New Followers feature is very useful though…

    Blackra1n killed one of my friends’ iPhones, heh.

    What exactly does “Jailbreaking” mean in this regard?

  8. October 16th, 2009 at 08:00 | #8

    eeeh… it’s really that easy? cos previously u needed the os files and itunes files…. no pre-req or anything? I’m on 3.0 now… :3

    @Blowfish
    No snow in your current recidence?

    @yonasu
    Yah, I guess its personal preference. ^^

    @Guy
    Killed? Ährm completely dead?

    @YuKi-To
    Yes it is, you just have to update via iTunes to 3.1.2 before. No custom firmware needed!

    It’s kinda cool.

    But now I see how much energy my iPhone use after only 8 min using on wlan!
    Too much!

    @hikky
    Well, it was one-button executable, and no, he spent 2 hours on fixing it.
