How to use Nvidia-Physx with G80 & G92 GPU's
Edit: Post is outdated. Since Aug, 26 the GeForce Release 177.92 with integrated Physx-Support is available for the Geforce 8 series.
A few weeks ago Nvidia released their new high end chip, the G200 alonge with software and drivers for Physx support.

Atm there is no offical driver for G80 and G92 gpu’s, but I wanted to use the new GPU-Client for Folding@Home.
But there is a way Geforce 8 owners to use Physx (which is already included in the new 3D-Mark Vantage)
1.)Use this tutorial at your own risk! (lots of others are using this for weeks, and so do I, but every system is a little bit different, so eventually your system will be unstable!)
2.) Download the latest driver for the G200 Gpus
@ http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
3.) Download the Physx-Software from
http://www.nvidia.de/object/physx_8.06.12_whql_de.html
and install the Physx-Software.
4.) Unzip the Driver that you have downloaded before.
5.) Download the inf-file that matches your OS
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=3540467&postcount=64
6.) Copy the nv_disp.inf -file into the folder in wich you have unzipped the driver (overwrite the existing file)
7.) Start setup.exe and install the display-driver as usal, restart
8.) after rebooting you can open your nvidia-physx-properties (there should be a shortcut somewhere in your startmenu, I’m vista-user, that’s why it doesn’t matter where it is for me ^^ ) and @ the “settings”-tab Nvidia-Physx should be enabled.
It works really fine and stable with my 8800 GTS 512 @ Vista 64 and Ntune.

If you have a SLI-setup (like my my first blog roll entry Len-vesper, @ http://www.finetoo.org/ ) feel free to mail/comment, cause you need a few more steps to use both cards @ folding@home.
so far, happy folding xD

Ossu! ( >_<)/
Good tutorial, la. I will add you to ze blogroll, Hikky! Keep the posts coming!
thx, I’m highly motivated at the moment
so the posts will come for sure
I got a lot of pingbacks from different hardware sites today
for those out there worrying: it might sound lame BUT it works! with 8800GTS (G80/G92) GTX, Ultra and so on
Does it work with 8600m gt? (mbp) I’ll get one soon ^^’
Oh Physx-Support isn’t a problem since a few weeks. Check out the Nvidia Beta Driver section. There is the GeForce 177.92 Driver (Yus nForce is dead they are called Geforce now)with integrated Physx-Support for our cards. I guess it should work with the mobil versions too.
